It’s been a little over a week and I’ve accomplished a number of the things I set out to complete that I mentioned in my previous post. For the most part, the forms are complete. The brass warmups are complete. I’m still working on the chorales. The handbook and brass resource are still getting off the ground, as is the music, but I intend on correcting that later this week. A good portion of Friday is going to be dedicated to finishing up the first movement so it can be mailed out with the rest of the member information this weekend. I’m excited. It’s ambitious – that never changed – despite our smaller numbers and some changes I’ve made to it. It will be our most demanding piece from a tempo and technical standpoint. The second movement will be our most musically and stylistically-demanding piece. And the third and final movement will be no slouch in any department. We have our work cut out for us, and the sooner I wrap up the show, the better.
Less than two months until our first show! The reality is starting to sink in.
